Day 8 - Central New Hampshire
Well, today was certainly not what I would consider a typical Flyabout day, but it was fun and relaxing.
After breakfast, Stu and I took Preston back to the airport in Lebanon, New Hampshire and took him for his first-ever ride in an airplane. It’s always great to see the look on a younger person’s face when they go fly, but especially when it’s the very first time they’ve ever flown.
When possible, I try to take somebody over their house so they can see it. It’s something that they’re familiar with, but from a very different perspective than they used to. It seems to help tie together the flight and quite honestly help reduce any stress or anxiety they might have.

After we came back to the house so that Preston could meet up with a friend of his and spend the day out on one of the lakes, Stu and I grabbed lunch, then headed up towards a nearby mountain to go for a hike. We summitted Cardigan Mountain, which entailed a mile and a half walk wall gaining 1000 feet in elevation, and then retraced the same course coming back down. It was perfect weather, with temperatures in the mid 70s and a breeze to help keep us cool. The view from the top the spectacular say the least, as it was so clear with just an occasional cloud.
After we came back from the hike, perhaps the most unusual aspect of the entire trip occurred: I sat and watched golf on TV for over two hours. This is especially unusual because I generally dislike golf, I really dislike golf on TV, and I really, really dislike watching sports on TV. But despite all of this, it was really fun and I learned a lot from Stu answering countless questions on my part.
Tomorrow, I am off to Massachusetts, where I will meet my fraternity little brother for brunch and then my best friend from high school and her family. It should be another fun and interesting day and will also mark the Eastern most aspect of this journey.
